What Heather C Markham learned from Rough Waters: From Surviving to Thriving with a Progressive Muscular Dystrophy

Welcome to my video series WHAT I LEARNED, where authors answer two questions related to their latest book: - What did you learn from your latest book that you'd like to share with your fellow authors? - What did you learn from your latest book that you'd like to share with your fellow readers?

I was honored to be welcomed by the great Montel Williams on his podcast “Free Thinking with Montel.” We discussed my memoir, ROUGH WATERS, my military family upbringing, living with a progressive muscular dystrophy and the challenges that are both specific to my circumstances, yet relatable to all.

Rough Waters : Special Guest Heather Markham

In this episode, we discuss the journey of standing and surviving. Taking the time to pivot and persevere. Finally, following the path of transfer to thrive. Healing is a part of life for many reasons, and for some, it is a cycle of pain, discomfort, grief, adaptability, acceptance, and growth. You are the driving force for your healing, and even if some things are out of your control, remember, you are not a burden. Let the rough waters pull you into the wave so that you can see there is peace, joy, pride, and strength once the wave breaks free.

Author Heather C. Markham discusses ROUGH WATERS

We talked about writing for a wider audience than just herself, the importance of water, and surviving turbulence.
